Brown Bag Films has become one of the most well known animation studios in the industry. Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O’Connell dropped out of college and borrowed £2,000 to start the company in 1994 and they have learned a thing or two over the last 20 years. They highlighted 5 tips during their talk at OFFSET this year.

1. "It'll do!" - Done is better than perfect and all creatives need to keep this in mind.
2. Start at the bottom - You need to start somewhere and unfortunately that is normally at the bottom.
3. Be agile - You must be flexible with your work and time to ensure you get the job done.
4. Know your limitations - Don't become overconfident and put the project/job at risk, stick to your particular set of skills.
5. Persistence - "Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." - Calvin Coolidge
