The Liberties was at the heart of Dublin trading in the 1900s but years of neglect have left the main centre derelict. The Iveagh Markets is now set to return to its former glory as a €90 million redevelopment will transform the site. The Victorian building will house an exhibition space and a contemporary market. The adjoining building will also be revitalised to include a hotel and apartments. This redesign will surely support the notion that this area is a centre for Irish creativity as the National College of Art & Design, the Tivoli Theatre, The Digital Hub and others are already present.
